Progress: Lesson 5
I worked on my Blogg and the decided to record the sound bites at home on my grand piano (personal preference). I decided to take out the ending/death. It takes a lot away from the piece as a whole from a story standpoint and in regards to minimalism
This is my final piece:
This is my final piece:
Lesson 3 and 4
Lesson 3:
I worked on the last section; death. In my mind I view death as the mind being at piece. There for I want the end to be somewhat siren but short like a quick death. The sound needs to be descending and legato to sound tragic.
Notes: F5,E,D,C,B#, A, F1
(On an eight octave)
Lesson 4:
I worked on my Blogg and started recording sound bites.

Progress: Lesson 2
I want this section to be the loudest because it leads to the impact which would be a big explosion/fireball. However I cannot seem to finish it or find a smooth transition to death. I start with the C finally fading out and transitioning to the next chord. The next few notes are a remix on a piece called alberesque which I use as a inspiration for my music as it is a very fast song.

I have transitions to this part yet.

Progress: Lesson 1
Progress:
Based on some music miss played for us, the main notes I will be using will be A and C.
The music should tell a story of when the people are getting on the space ship and the calm before the storm of which is there impending doom. There will be four stages. Getting on the ship, on the ship, impending doom, death. The first and last will be the shortest.
For the getting on the ship I started in out with a high C being repeated. Then I played A# F# C# G#. I thought of this pattern by playing around with some serialism we did in class as a basis to create the sounds you hear on an aircraft before your departure and/or descend.
*Insert first sound bite*
Then for part two I wanted to create an ascending sound so I repeated the notes C & D with the third note alternating. At the same time the C key begins to slow down into cords as a transition into the next part the 'impending doom'
*Insert second sound bite*

Process Journal
Week 1:
During today’s lesson we were reintroduced into the art of the storytelling and phantasmagoria. We got into groups of both music and art students. In my group, I am with Carolyn, Nikita, and Abdullah. We shared some our horror stories and ballads from English which we were to use in our upcoming project.
Week 2:
We are starting to create a small power point talking about some of our ideas for our upcoming project and skills from other classes such as music and English, which can be incorporated into our project. Some of our ideas include villains being black and white and good people being colorful, the heroes coming from stage left and villains coming from stage right.
New girl, Sophia, got added to our group and she added some ideas to our presentation. We just continued to finish our presentation this lesson.
Week 3:
This week we were presenting our presentations to the other groups. We were giving a double sided sheet with the criteria at the top and we had to give the groups a grade and feedback against the criteria. We marked them against criterias A, B, and C. Criteria D would be marked by the teachers for the students blog posts.
Week 4:
After presenting, we started creating the actual project which is a mix between puppetry and phantasmagoria. We decided a story which on a horror story following a girl named Noah. We decided on what should be puppets (Ghost and Noah) and what would be phantasmagoria (setting).
Was absent on Thursday but group changed story to something else that is underdeveloped.
Week 5:
Was absent on Sunday
Started developing drafts of characters designs for puppets. Here are some designs:

Week 6:
Finished drawing all characters. Spent most of our time in the music room working with the rest of the group. Listened to some of their music and what they plan on doing with music. Music TBA:
Week 7:
Over the weekend I tried to make the puppets but I forgot the drawings at school so I only did a few. Will finish the rest in break. Only have mom and Blake to do. Mom doesn't have many moving parts so she will be easy to finish. 5-10 minutes. Started on Phantasmagoria by researching images such as...
I simply searched scenery, Tim Burton. Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors as all his stuff are very irry. It's creepy but not full blown scary.
Thursday Mourning: Finished all puppets last night. Looked into music and decided on some I should and shouldn't use. Played around with picture editor with one of the pictures I am definitely using.

Titanic Reflection
In drama we did a play set on the titanic. The story line was that Winston Churchill, The Prime Minister need to have his wife assassinated for financial reasons. So he hires; the captain, the cleaner, and the guard to kill her. One day the wife (Me) over hears her husband and others plotting her demise. Whilst the prime minister and his wife are sharing a romantic moment, the others sneak up on her and kill her. But before they can kill her the ship hits an iceberg, killing everyone except her and the guard. They escape the ship and survive.
My character is meant to be very annoying so to drive the point I put on an annoying accent. However the accent kind of faded out over the scene. There was also the intent for her to be naive with a line to be said about her purse and how it was very expensive. But the line was taken out as me and Oliver couldn't help but crack up while saying it.
During the performance, there were points were I couldn't help but crack up. This was mainly because Oliver would keep laughing. Laughter is contagious.
Also there is no major character development for me. There is no point for the character than to be a damsel. She is very dull, has no true motive, no noticeable trait. She had an accent but it faded it out.

Silent Movie

The four characters
The Villain:
The villain normally captures the damsel in distress in mellow-dramas. The picture is of me imitating a villain plotting. With an evil grin, squinted eyes, and fingers twiddling. He normally has a curly mustache which he likes to twirl. They usually wear a black clock and hat.
The Damsel:
More commonly referred to as the damsel in distress for she is always being saved by the hero. Most common scenario for the damsel and distress is being tied to train tracks. I put my hand on my forehead with my hand facing the audience. Looking upwards and resting my weight on one leg.
The Hero:
Puffed out chest, looking upwards, and hands on hips. A pose that I believe resembles a hero. One of if not the most important character in a play is the hero. Always saves the day and girl from peril.
The Henchmen:
The follower of the villain. I hunched over, with short hands, and a very cheeky grin. I didn't really know what to do so I imitated Igor from Frankenstein. Igor was the hunchback servant in the story and was the first thing that popped into mind when playing the henchmen.
