The four characters

The Villain:

The villain normally captures the damsel in distress in mellow-dramas. The picture is of me imitating a villain plotting. With an evil grin, squinted eyes, and fingers twiddling. He normally has a curly mustache which he likes to twirl. They usually wear a black clock and hat.

The Damsel:

More commonly referred to as the damsel in distress for she is always being saved by the hero. Most common scenario for the damsel and distress is being tied to train tracks. I put my hand on my forehead with my hand facing the audience. Looking upwards and resting my weight on one leg.

The Hero:

Puffed out chest, looking upwards, and hands on hips. A pose that I believe resembles a hero. One of if not the most important character in a play is the hero. Always saves the day and girl from peril.

The Henchmen:

The follower of the villain. I hunched over, with short hands, and a very cheeky grin. I didn't really know what to do so I imitated Igor from Frankenstein. Igor was the hunchback servant in the story and was the first thing that popped into mind when playing the henchmen.

  1. Well done Josephine, your photos show me that you understand how to use your facial expressions and body language to create melodramatic gestures to show the stock characters. Your descriptions are very good because you have used your own words and knowledge to explain the characters. Excellent work. Note: Please change your title to 'Melodrama Stock Characters'. 7/8 Criterion A
